12' x 15' Bedroom Carpets
The bedroom carpet should be the softest one in your home — the first thing your feet touch in the morning. Rugsville's bedroom carpet collection includes 4,100+ designs in plush hand-tufted wool, soft shaggy pile, and elegant hand-knotted patterns — sized for Indian master and guest bedrooms (4'×6', 5'×8', 6'×9').
How to Place a Carpet in the Bedroom
Three classic placements work for most Indian bedrooms:
- Foot of the bed (most popular): a 5'×8' or 6'×9' carpet placed perpendicular to the bed, with the bed's footboard touching the top edge.
- Under the bed (frame both sides): an 8'×10' carpet centered under the bed with 18–24" extending on each side and at the foot.
- Two side runners: 2'×6' or 3'×8' runners on each side of the bed — common in Indian homes with traditional decor.
Best Materials for Bedroom Comfort
Hand-tufted Wool
Soft, plush, naturally warm. Holds up to daily walking. The most popular bedroom material in India.
Shaggy / High-Pile
Pile heights of 1–2" — extremely soft underfoot. Best for bedrooms with low traffic.
Wool-Silk Blend
Adds subtle sheen for elegant bedrooms. Slightly more delicate.
Cotton
Lighter, more breathable — ideal for Indian summers in non-AC bedrooms.
Color & Pattern for the Bedroom
Bedrooms benefit from softer, calming palettes — dusty rose, sage green, ivory, taupe, muted blues. Patterns should be subtle (small geometrics, soft florals) rather than bold medallions, which can feel busy in a rest space. Solid-color shags work beautifully against patterned bedlinen.
Care Tips for Indian Bedrooms
Bedroom carpets get less foot traffic than living rooms but trap more dust due to bedding fibers. Vacuum once a week with a soft brush attachment. Rotate the carpet 180° every 6 months. In monsoon season, sun-air the carpet on a dry day to prevent humidity buildup. Avoid placing the carpet directly under a wet hair-drying or steam-pressing zone.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the best carpet size for a bedroom?
- 5'×8' for typical Indian master bedrooms (12'×14'); 6'×9' for larger master bedrooms (14'×16'+); 4'×6' for guest bedrooms or beside the bed.
- Are shaggy carpets safe for bedrooms with kids?
- Yes for older kids. For toddlers who roll on the floor, shorter-pile (under 1") is easier to clean if spills happen.
- What's the best carpet for a humid coastal bedroom?
- Wool naturally regulates moisture. Avoid synthetic shags which can trap humidity. Cotton dhurries also work well in coastal climates.
- Can the carpet stay under my bed permanently?
- Yes. Vacuum the exposed edges weekly and lift the bed every 6 months to vacuum underneath, especially in monsoon. Use a rug pad to prevent shifting.
- How do I match a carpet with traditional Indian bedroom furniture (carved wood, jhula)?
- Choose a hand-knotted Persian or transitional carpet in warm reds, ivories, or deep blues. Avoid very modern abstracts which can clash visually.
