The geometry on this rug grew out of the design language that ran from Bauhaus through Scandinavian modernism into the open fields of 1970s textile art. A pattern that lays a quiet order across a floor without claiming the eye for itself. The point of a strong geometry on a contemporary rug is not to dominate the room. It is to give the architecture and the upholstery above it a coherent ground to sit against.
Hand-tufted in India by 2 tufters and 1 finisher over five weeks. Wool was pushed through a stretched cotton canvas one row at a time with a hand-held tufting gun, fixed with natural latex, and backed with a cotton scrim. The grey pile was sheared by hand on the final pass to bring the pattern into relief above the field.
The composition
The composition holds a grey field at the centre and lets the supporting tones drift across the body of the rug rather than confining them to a border. The rug is composed as a single surface, not a tile to be repeated. The wool pile gives the colour a slight optical depth that flat-printed alternatives cannot reach. The pattern is paced so that the field reads from across the room and the detail rewards walking closer.
The piece in a room

Care
Vacuum on the suction-only setting weekly and avoid the beater bar entirely. Blot any spill with a clean dry cloth and treat with mild soap diluted in cool water. Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
