A dhurrie is woven flat on a horizontal loom with the weft pressed tight against the warp, building the pattern entirely through the interlocking of coloured yarns. There is no pile to hide behind, which means every colour decision and every line of geometry has to do its work in the open. This brown wool dhurrie carries a modern geometric composition that emerges from the slow logic of the loom rather than from a paper cartoon, and reads with the graphic clarity that only a flat weave can deliver.
Production took 4 weeks on a flat loom. Wool yarn was interlocked with a fingertip technique that allows colour blocks to meet at clean diagonals without slits. The wool was hand-spun, dyed in cold water with a vegetable bath, then loaded onto bobbins for the weaver to work into the warp.
The composition
The palette runs in brown against a counter-tone that holds the eye without competing with it. Because the weave is flat, every colour change is a hard line; the design resolves with the clarity of a printed graphic but with the depth of hand-spun wool. The horizontal lay of the fibre catches light along its length, which gives the dhurrie a soft sheen that shifts as you move through the room.
The piece in a room
size as listed () is the working scale for a primary bedroom under a queen frame, a medium living area, or a square dining setting for six to eight. The flat profile suits doorways, kitchen edges, and rooms with sliding furniture, and the brown weave is reversible for double the working life. Pair with low timber furniture, woven bamboo, white-washed walls, and natural linen upholstery to let the geometry of the dhurrie set the visual rhythm of the room.
Care
A weekly vacuum on low setting is enough. The reversible weave means you can swap faces every twelve months to balance light exposure and traffic between the two sides. Spot-clean spills before they set; cold water and mild detergent are the right starting tools. A professional flat-weave wash every three years restores the colour brightness lost to dust.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
