Kashan Rust & Black Hand-Knotted Wool Carpet 9' x 12'

Quick facts: hand-knotted wool · size 9' x 12' · for living room, bedroom, entryway · free shipping across India.

A rust and black hand-knotted wool carpet in the Kashan style, this room-sized piece measures 9' x 12'. The black sets off the warm rust, so the carpet looks rich and grounded in a big living room or a master bedroom. Its country and floral character softens the strong colours.

Material and make

Knotting by hand on an upright loom is slow, careful work, and the pile is sheared level at the end for a dense, even finish. Wool adds warmth and resilience, so the carpet recovers from furniture and footsteps. Any stray fibre you find on the vacuum at first is normal and soon stops.

In the room

Measuring 9' x 12', it is large enough for a full seating group, with the sofa, armchairs and coffee table all sitting on it. In a bedroom it can run under the bed and extend well past each side. Dark carpets like this work nicely against light floors and pale walls, where they give the room a clear centre.

Care

Vacuum with the beater bar off and rotate the carpet every few months so wear is shared. For deep cleaning, use a professional wool carpet cleaner, and move heavy furniture gently rather than dragging it.
