Some carpet patterns refuse to settle into one tradition. The composition here pulls fragments of Persian vine, Anatolian medallion, Tibetan colour-block, and twentieth-century painterly mark into a single field, then resolves them through wool and silk so the eye reads them as one weather system rather than as borrowed quotations. Three weavers worked the loom for six months. The pile is a wool and silk blend, the silk concentrated where the cartoon called for the lift of high-value passages so they read as light rather than as another colour. Wool was dyed in nineteen separate skein batches to support the chromatic range of the composition without flattening any of it. Knots are Persian asymmetric, tied by feel against the loom beam, with the master overseer walking the work daily to keep the tonal seams aligned across the three weavers.

The composition

Multiple grounds shift across the field: an ochre passage at the upper left, a deep teal that bleeds into rust toward the centre, a soft pearl grey along the lower edge, and saffron and indigo accents distributed asymmetrically. The silk catches in the rust and saffron and gives the warm half of the rug its lift. There is no border, no central anchor, no symmetry. The composition reads as a layered weather front. Stand in front of it for ten minutes and the relationships between the colour fields keep rearranging.
