Leidel Ikat Slate Hand-Tufted Wool Carpet

Quick facts: hand-tufted wool · sizes 2' x 3' to 9' x 12' · for living room, bedroom, entryway · free shipping across India.

Leidel in slate is an ikat hand-tufted wool carpet with a cool, muted character. Slate is a grey with a hint of blue, a colour that sits happily in modern rooms, and the ikat pattern's blurred edges stop it feeling flat. It suits contemporary living rooms and calm bedrooms.

Material and make

Wool yarn is punched through a backing cloth with a hand-held tool, the back is coated, and the pile is sheared to an even height, which is how these hand-tufted carpets get their plush feel. Wool adds warmth and springiness. Some loose fibre in the first days is part of the fibre.

In the room

In a modern living room, 8' x 10' keeps the sofa and chairs together on one soft surface, and 9' x 12' does the same in a larger space. 5' x 8' works beside a bed or under a small table. The small sizes, 2' x 3' and 3'6" x 5'6", suit a reading chair or a doorway, and 2'6" x 8' fits a corridor.

Care

Vacuum on a low setting without the beater bar. Blot spills straight away and leave stubborn marks to a professional cleaner. Slate hides most dust well, so a weekly pass is usually enough.
