The pattern in this rug descends from the great Persian floral tradition, refined through the city looms of Iran over four centuries. The central medallion floats over a field of vine and palmette, exactly as it did on a 1620 Safavid carpet now in the V&A.
The colour register on this piece holds two values of polychrome against a paler ground, with secondary accents that bring the composition into balance. The studio worked the drawing in chalk and gouache for several months, refining the proportions and the colour ratios, before approving it for production. What reaches the loom is the result of that drafting work, not a quick sketch handed to a weaver.
The fibre
Heat-set polypropylene yarn, jacquard-woven on the loom. The fibre takes pigment at the molecular level and resists the sun-bleaching that affects natural fibres over a few seasons. The pile recovers from furniture compression and does not shed. The construction is engineered to survive a decade of use in a primary living space without losing its read or its colour.
The composition
The polychrome ground holds the eye at distance and the secondary motif rewards a closer look. Pair with leather, linen, or wool upholstery in muted tones; the rug carries enough graphic information that strongly patterned soft furnishings will fight it. The composition was built for the floor specifically, with the proportions calibrated for the angle of view that comes from standing rather than from holding the textile in hand.
The piece in a room
At 5' x 7' (152 × 213 cm) the rug supports a primary seating arrangement or a small dining group. The polychrome field holds against natural light and against warm interior lighting both. The geometry is calibrated for room-scale viewing; pair with mid-tone walls, restrained upholstery, and one strong piece of art rather than several competing graphic elements.
Care
Weekly vacuuming and spot cleaning with mild detergent handle ordinary use. Heat-set polypropylene tolerates a domestic 30°C wash if the size folds to fit the drum, and the rug dries flat overnight without needing professional intervention. Rotate a quarter turn each season so foot traffic and direct sun age the surface evenly across the field.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
