Floral repeat is the oldest device in carpet design. Persian, Mughal and Anatolian workshops all reached the same conclusion early, that a field of small flowers reads as continuous depth and lets the eye settle anywhere on the rug without pulling toward a centre.
The piece took three to four months on a stretched canvas frame under Three weavers and a finisher. The wool was hand-spun and prepared in small dye batches before any of it reached the canvas. The pile was pulled through with a tufting gun row by row, the back sealed in natural latex with a cotton scrim, and the surface sheared down by hand at finish for an even plane.
The composition
Gold and brown dominates the composition. The geometry sits at considered scale, neither pushed forward as ornament nor pulled back into ground. Plant-derived dye gives the surface a soft register that synthetic colour cannot reach, and the wool ages into the palette rather than against it. The detail in the field is meant to be discovered by the foot before it is read by the eye, which is why the rug responds so well to a low, centred furniture arrangement. Across the first season of use the wool will oxidise into a slightly deeper register and the dye will find its final saturation against the warp.
The piece in a room
8' x 11' is the rug for a serious primary living area. The scale demands a full sectional or a sofa with two armchairs and a coffee table, all sitting comfortably inside the field. The piece carries the room as its principal colour decision and the architecture, lighting and art are read against its palette rather than the reverse.
Care
Care for a tufted wool rug is simple and consistent. Run a vacuum across the surface once a week with the rotary brush switched off. Blot any spill immediately, never rub, and address it with cool water and a mild detergent on a clean cloth. Send the piece for professional dry cleaning every two to three years; the latex backing does not tolerate domestic wet cleaning.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
