The composition

The purple field is dense and even. Carved relief lifts the drawing off the ground by two to three millimetres, holding the pattern at any distance. The yarn is wool, dense enough to walk on barefoot and resilient enough to hold its hand under furniture for years. Density runs to roughly 1500 grams of wool per square metre, which is dense enough to feel substantial underfoot and resilient enough to recover from furniture compression.

8' × 10' (244 × 305 cm) works under a drawing room, a long dining table for eight, or a primary suite. The purple colour pairs with both warm and cool wood floors, with leather and linen upholstery, and with painted walls that lean toward chalk rather than gloss. Light walls push the field forward. Darker grounds let it sit deeper into the architecture. A felted underlay extends the life of the tufted body by spreading load and slowing fibre compression. Plan for one when you place the rug.

Care

Vacuum once a week with the beater bar disengaged. Address spills by blotting cool water on a clean cotton cloth. The pile will release loose fibre for a month or two after first laying down. A professional dry clean every three years keeps the colour fresh and the pile open.
