Rugsville Nova Graphic Blue Ivory Modern Carpet 5'3" x 7'1"

The pattern in this rug grew out of a contemporary studio working in the gap between European modernism and the older geometric traditions of Anatolia and central Asia. The composition was developed in studio drawings before being committed to the loom.

The composition runs through a ivory register, with secondary tones picked up in the field geometry. The drawing breaks symmetry deliberately at the centre so the eye reads the rug as a single composed surface rather than a tile repeat. The colour is engineered for stability under direct light, which is the trade-off the format makes against the slow patina of wool. The studio worked the design across several rounds of paper revision before approving it for production, with the spacing of the geometry tuned to room scale rather than to a flat sample swatch.

The fibre

Heat-set polypropylene. The colour is locked at the fibre level by temperature rather than dipped at the surface, which is why direct sunlight does not wash the saturation out the way it bleaches pigment-printed yarns. The fibre resists staining at the molecular level: spilled wine, juice, oil and coffee lift with a damp cloth before they set. The pile stays flat under furniture and does not shed.

The composition

The ivory reading is calm under all light conditions. Walls in clay, off-white, or warm grey hold the colour. The geometry resolves at room scale and rewards closer viewing without insisting on it. The pile sits low enough that doors and chair legs glide across the surface without catching.

The piece in a room

5' x 7' (152 x 213 cm). The size suits a medium living room, a primary bedroom under the bed and night tables, or a study set up around a partner desk. The piece tolerates rolling chair traffic, food spills, and weekly vacuuming without showing wear in the way a wool rug at the same price would.

Care

Vacuum weekly with the beater bar engaged or disengaged, the fibre tolerates either. Spot clean with mild detergent on a clean cotton cloth. Machine wash on a cold cycle if a spill does not lift; the size folds to fit a domestic drum. Dries flat in two hours. No professional cleaning required, no rotating-brush damage to worry about, no shedding into the room air.
