Ikat Bohemian Multicolour Hand-Knotted Sari Silk Carpet 8' x 10'

Quick facts: hand-knotted silk · size 8' x 10' · for living room, bedroom, entryway · free shipping across India.

A modern take on the bohemian look, this multicolour Ikat hand-knotted silk carpet in sari silk measures 8' x 10'. With so many colours in play, it can tie together a living room where the sofa, cushions and curtains do not quite match.

Material and make

Knots are tied by hand and the surface is then sheared even, which is what makes hand-knotted pile dense and long-wearing. Sari silk gives each colour a slight glow; it is a fibre for rooms with light use and careful housekeeping. Dense hand-knotted pile also keeps the pattern crisp, so the colours stay separate instead of blurring together.

In the room

At 8' x 10', the carpet can hold a sofa, two chairs and a coffee table in a living room, or sit under a dining table and its chairs. Choose plainer walls and let the colours of the carpet set the palette. If you plan to add cushions, pick one or two shades from the carpet and repeat them, instead of introducing new colours.

Care

Vacuum softly and rotate the carpet from time to time. A professional who understands silk should handle any deep clean, and the carpet should be kept dry. Avoid dragging furniture over it, and lift sofa legs when moving them.
