The pattern in this rug grew out of contemporary studios working between the Anatolian and Indian textile traditions and the cleaner geometry of mid-century European design. The composition was developed across months of drawing before being cleared for production. The studio approach is the closest thing the contemporary carpet has to the practice of an editioned print: a single drawing, refined repeatedly, then issued in a controlled run.
The piece was woven on a jacquard loom in Turkey, where the working studio drawing translates directly into the warp instructions for the machine. Density runs at around six hundred thousand pile points per square metre, which is why the pattern stays crisp at a viewer's distance and the colour reads honestly from edge to edge across the field.
The fibre
Heat-set polypropylene. The colour is locked into the yarn by temperature rather than carried as surface dye, which is why the saturation does not fade under direct sunlight the way printed pigment fades. The fibre resists staining at the molecular level: spilled wine, oil, juice, and coffee lift with a damp cloth before they set. The pile stays flat under furniture and does not shed.
The composition
A grey palette set across a softly drawn ground. The pattern carries the worn-in feel of an antique reference without the price or the conservation requirements that come with one. The colour holds its saturation under sunlight, and the field reads as a settled graphic rather than a fresh production.
The piece in a room
The 5'3" × 7'9" (160 × 236 cm) format suits a primary bedroom or a medium living area. The grey palette holds against ivory, warm white, or oak-panelled walls, and the rug pairs cleanly with walnut, oak, linen upholstery, leather without competing for the room. Layering a smaller wool or hide over a corner gives the room a second register without breaking the main field.
Care
Standard vacuuming once a week. Blot spills with a damp cloth before reaching for detergent; most lift cleanly. The piece can be cold-washed in a domestic drum if needed and dries flat in two hours. The colour does not run.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
