Mahal Persian Red & Black Hand-Tufted Wool Carpet

Quick facts: hand-tufted wool · sizes 4' x 6' to 2'6" x 12' · for living room, bedroom, entryway · free shipping across India.

Mahal is a Persian-style hand-tufted wool carpet in red and black. Red and black is a classic, high-contrast pairing for traditional interiors, and it holds its own beside dark wood and plain walls. The page lists a long runner size, 2'6" x 12', alongside a 4' x 6' rectangle, so one design can cover a passage as well as a seating area.

Material and make

Hand-tufting punches yarn through a backing cloth with a hand-held tufting tool; the carpet is then backed and sheared, which leaves a plush, even surface. Wool is warm and resilient, so it suits cooler rooms and springs back after furniture is moved. Early on, a little fluff in the vacuum is nothing to worry about.

In the room

The 2'6" x 12' size is cut for a hallway or the length of a passage, with a few inches of floor showing on either side. The 4' x 6' size suits a spot beside the bed or in front of a sofa, where it can take the weight of a coffee table or an armchair. Choose by space: the runner for passages, the rectangle for a seating area or bedroom.

Care

Run a vacuum over it regularly, minus the beater bar, and blot spills straight away. A professional clean now and then is safer than washing at home.
