The composition

A warm beige ground laid with a quiet all-over scrolling vine pattern in soft tan and walnut. The drawing repeats but the spacing is open, in keeping with the Ziegler discipline. The border is a single restrained guard band rather than a stack of competing repeats. The colour will lighten and warm further over the next decade, the beige drifting toward bone, the tan deepening into a softer cinnamon. Surface variation in the hand-spun wool keeps the field alive under interior light at every angle.
