Armani Red Kashmir Hand-Knotted Silk Carpet 4' x 6'

Quick facts: hand-knotted silk · size 4' x 6' · for living room, bedroom, entryway · free shipping across India.

Armani is a Kashmiri-style hand-knotted silk carpet in red, in a 4' x 6' size. The red ground gives the oriental pattern depth, and silk lets the colour shift gently as the light changes through the day. It is a compact size, ideal where you want a focal point rather than a wall-to-wall effect.

Material and make

Silk fibre is tied into the base by hand, knot by knot, then sheared level, so the surface is fine and dense. Silk has a natural sheen that catches the light. It is best kept in rooms where footfall is light, such as a bedroom or a quiet sitting area. Handmade carpets can vary slightly in size and shade between pieces, which is part of their appeal.

In the room

Beside a bed or in front of a sofa, 4' x 6' is a good size: it can sit under a coffee table. It also works as a focal piece in a study, or at the foot of a reading chair where you can see it up close. Silk is delicate, so take shoes off on it where you can.

Care

Vacuum gently without a beater bar, and blot spills at once. Silk carpets are best cleaned by a professional. Rotate it a few times a year so light and wear are shared evenly.
