Aytan Kashmir Tan & Ivory Hand-Knotted Silk Carpet 4' x 6'

Quick facts: hand-knotted silk · size 4' x 6' · for living room, bedroom, entryway · free shipping across India.

Aytan is a hand-knotted silk carpet in tan and ivory with a Kashmiri-style oriental design, sized 4' x 6'. Tan and ivory together give a soft, sandy effect that goes with dark furniture as easily as with pale. The traditional styling, with its country and floral influences, suits a sitting room, an entrance hall or a guest bedroom.

Material and make

Making a carpet like this means tying each knot by hand on a vertical loom, then trimming the finished pile to a uniform height; the knots pack the weave tightly and help it last. The silk gives the surface a delicate glow. Treat it like fine fabric and keep it where feet are light.

In the room

A 4' x 6' carpet is a fine size for a small entry hall, a dressing area or the side of a bed. Tan and ivory show up best against dark flooring, so consider laying it over a polished timber or deep-toned stone floor. Keep umbrellas, bags and shoes away from it by using a separate mat at the door.

Care

Gentle suction vacuuming is the safest routine, and sharp-heeled shoes are best left off the carpet. Book a professional clean from time to time.
