Hand-woven carpets in this idiom were originally made for tents, then for temple floors, then for verandas. The vocabulary is geometric because the loom rewards geometry and punishes curves. What survived from those early uses into the contemporary room is a sense of restraint: the rug is built to be lived on, not displayed.
Jute and a cotton warp, woven flat in India over three weeks. The yarn is hand-spun before it reaches the loom; the colours are dyed before they reach the weaver. The construction is heavy and stable, which is what lets a jute kilim sit on a hard floor without underlay and stay flat through years of household use.
The composition
The palette is multi, laid in geometric blocks because the loom rewards geometry and punishes curves. The flatweave construction lets the pattern read on both faces of the rug; the reverse is as finished as the front. The texture is dry to the touch in the way only a hand-woven carpet is, and the surface lays cleanly against a hard floor without needing a heavy underlay.

Care
Vacuum weekly on suction only. Air the rug outside every few months to refresh the fibre. Blot spills cool, never warm. - Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.

Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
