Quick facts: hand-knotted silk · size 4'6" x 6'6" · for living room, bedroom, entryway · free shipping across India.

This is a hand-knotted bamboo silk carpet in a bohemian ikat design in blue, measuring 4'6" x 6'6". The design is easy to live with, with enough movement in the pattern to be interesting but not so much that it overrules the rest of the room.

Material and make

Knots are tied by hand on an upright loom, and the pile is sheared level afterwards, so the carpet has a fine, dense surface. Its bamboo silk pile has a sheen that shifts with the light and a smooth hand; keep it to lower-traffic rooms and away from spills.

In the room

A 4'6" x 6'6" carpet works in a bedroom beside the bed, or under a coffee table with the sofa's front legs resting on the edge. The blue pairs easily with white bedding, grey walls and pale wood, and the silk sheen gives a plain room something to catch the light. Because bamboo silk is delicate, it belongs in a bedroom, a reading corner or a quieter sitting room rather than a busy passage.

Care

Set the vacuum to low with the beater bar off, rotate the carpet once or twice a year, and blot spills promptly rather than rubbing. Avoid steam and saturation, and dry any damp patch at once. Dust can be lifted gently from the pile with a soft brush attachment.
