What we call Persian today is in practice the synthesis of multiple court and village traditions that crystallised in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and has been continuously refined since. The rug here works in that long lineage with the materials and the methods the original workshops would recognise. The carpet here works inside that long technical history.
2 weavers worked the loom over 2 months. Each knot was tied by hand with a hooked steel knife, the wefts passed and beaten into place with a heavy comb after every row. The dye lots were prepared in batches matched against a master skein to hold the colour consistent across the field. The piece is offered at 4' Round in a natural register, made in India.
The composition
Natural dominates the composition. The pile carries a slight directional sheen that pulls light along the warp. Walked from one end the field looks deeper, walked from the other it lifts. The pattern stays constant but the surface breathes, the optical doubling that no synthetic fibre reproduces. The borders close the field without locking it, the way a frame holds a painting without competing with it. Pairs well with linen, leather, walnut, and oak. Pairs less well with strongly patterned upholstery, where the rug expects to be the dominant graphic element in the room.
The piece in a room
At 4' Round the round footprint asks for symmetrical placement. Below a pedestal table, in front of a curved sofa, or as the calm centre of a square room. The colour reads against off-white plaster as a focal field and against deeper walls as a settled ground that lets the surrounding architecture take the lead.
Conservation
A half rotation each season equalises the ageing of the pile against light and traffic. Vacuum weekly, suction only, never with a beater bar. Blot spills, never rub. Hand-wash every five years by a conservator who understands wool foundations. The piece is built for at least three generations of use. Insurance is worth carrying on any hand-knotted carpet of this calibre, since the replacement value moves with the price of hand-spun wool and the dwindling supply of skilled weavers.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
