Agra carpets earned their reputation in the courts of the late Mughals for fineness of knotting and a quiet elegance of drawing. The tradition migrated to the village loom and survives in pieces like this one, hand-knotted in India.
A single weaver sat at the loom across about three months of continuous work. Wool hand-spun in small lots, dyed in copper vats, then knotted against a cotton warp by feel rather than count. The back of the rug carries the drawing as clearly as the face does, which is the structural test of a carpet woven properly through every row.
The composition
A rust and gold ground, a Agra pattern in deeper tones, and a quietly drawn border. The rug is built to age. Saturation softens, contrast deepens, the field warms. A naturally dyed wool of this kind does not arrive complete; it arrives ready to start.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
