Tribal weavings stand outside the city-workshop tradition. The drawing is direct, the geometry slightly irregular, the colour what the village indigo and madder pots could produce in a given week. The piece below carries that village-loom vocabulary forward.
The pattern reads in multicoloured, with the densities and silhouettes worked out by a studio team over months of drawing before the loom file was finalised. What you keep is a design that holds its line at room scale and a fibre that takes daily traffic without complaint.
The fibre
Heat-set polypropylene. The yarn is engineered so the colour is locked in by temperature rather than by surface dye, which is why the multicoloured register does not fade under direct sunlight the way pigment printing fades. The fibre resists staining at the molecular level. Spilled wine, juice, oil, or coffee lift with a damp cloth before they set, and the pile stays flat under furniture without shedding.
The composition
The colour has been deliberately washed back, so the multicoloured field reads as if the rug had been on a floor for fifty years already. The pattern survives the wash. What changes is the saturation, which now sits in a register that almost any wall colour will hold. The slight wear at the edges is a controlled effect rather than damage, and the foundation underneath is unworn.
The piece in a room
5'3" x 7'4" (160 x 224 cm) sits under a two-seat sofa and a narrow coffee table, or anchors a writing desk in a study. The multicoloured register holds against pale walls and against warm wood floors with equal authority. Position the sofa with the front legs on the rug and the back legs on the floor. The composition holds at a low viewing angle from a seated position, which is the angle most of the day will be spent looking at it.
Care
Vacuum weekly. Spot clean with mild detergent on a clean cloth. The fibre lifts most spills with a damp cloth before they set. If a spill resists spot cleaning, the rug can be machine-washed cold at 30°C and dried flat in two hours. No professional cleaning required.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
