Modern carpet design, from the Bauhaus weavers forward, taught us that geometry alone could carry a floor. No medallion, no border, just a considered field. This rug works in that vocabulary, hand-knotted in India.
Two weavers shared the loom for close to five months. The pile is hand-spun wool, knotted by feel against a vertical beam on a cotton foundation. The dye palette was prepared in small batches before the wool was lowered into the vats, the way every long-lived carpet has been finished for two hundred years. The cartoon was followed loosely; small hand-driven irregularities in the field are the signature of a piece woven without a power-driven aid.
The composition
A ivory ground, a floral repeat in deeper tones, and a quietly drawn border. The rug is built to age. Saturation softens, contrast deepens, the field warms. A naturally dyed wool of this kind does not arrive complete; it arrives ready to start.

What you are paying for is the months of weaver-time, the hand-spun wool, the dye work, and the design lineage. Comparable antique pieces in good condition trade well above this price in the international market. The rug appreciates with careful use rather than depreciating.

Walnut, oak, linen upholstery, leather sit comfortably on it; the geometry pairs poorly with strongly patterned upholstery, where the rug expects to be the only graphic element holding the floor.
Conservation

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
