The all-over floral has been a default of the wool rug for four hundred years. What changes from generation to generation is the scale of the bloom, the openness of the ground, and the depth of the border. This rug pulls the bloom forward and lets the ground recede.
Built in India over 3 to 5 weeks. Two tufters worked the front of the canvas, and a finisher carved the relief between motif and ground by hand once the pile was set. The cotton scrim on the back is bonded with a low-VOC natural latex, then trimmed and bound by hand around the edges to finish.
The composition
All-over floral work in deep navy, blue, multi-tonal, the blooms scaled to read across a room rather than on the hand. The wool is over-dyed in two baths, which is why the colour carries a slight tonal shift at different angles. The relief between motif and ground is sheared by hand to lift the floral above the field by a hair. The pile holds shape under furniture without crushing flat.
Why hand-tufted
Tufted wool work is the right tier when the room needs a hand-finished surface but does not need the multi-decade build of a knotted carpet. The wool is the same. The pattern reads the same. The hand of the pile is the same. The economics are different, which is what brings real wool work into the reach of more rooms.
The piece in a room
At the size as listed the rug is built to anchor a primary room without disappearing under furniture. The composition is scaled to read against the seating arrangement, with the front legs of the sofa and any flanking armchairs sitting on the pile and a clear margin of bare floor at the perimeter. The proportions hold for both rectangular and squared room layouts and the field reads as a single considered ground rather than as a covering. The deep navy, blue, multi-tonal register reads against pale linen, raw oak, brass detail, and unpolished marble in equal measure.
Care
Weekly vacuuming on suction only. Light shedding for the first month or two is normal and resolves on its own. Blot spills, never rub. A professional dry clean every two to three years restores the pile and lifts any embedded grit.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
