Persian floral pattern adapts beautifully to the hand-tufted medium: the long pile holds the colour, the cut-pile relief lets the drawing read at room scale, and the fibre takes dye to the saturations the design needs. The piece here is built on that adaptation.

Two tufters and a finisher worked the loom for 5 weeks in India. Yarns of wool were tufted through a cotton primary, latex applied at the reverse to lock the pile, then a cotton scrim glued over the latex to finish the back. The pile was then sheared by hand, with the relief between motif and ground cut by a few millimetres so the pattern reads at standing distance. The finished rug carries the depth of a knotted piece at a fraction of the loom-time.

The composition

Colour holds at neutral beige with reserved black accents. Persian floral incident drawn at a generous scale and given the full plush of cut wool pile, the cartoon translating from the classical knot-pile language with no loss of legibility. The hand-shear pass gives the motif a couple of millimetres of relief above the ground, which is what makes the pattern read across the room rather than dissolving into noise. Up close, the relief reads as a quiet sculptural detail rather than as a trick.

The piece in a room

At the size as listed, the rug works as a defining floor element under primary seating, a dining table, or as the anchor of a bedroom. The beige black palette pairs with mid-tone walls, walnut or oak floors, and a relaxed mix of upholstery materials. Direct daylight settles the saturation; lamp-lit evenings deepen the darker passages. The drawing reads cleanly across the room and rewards a closer look on approach. The rug expects to be the work the room is arranged around, not flooring underneath the furniture.

Care

Weekly suction vacuuming, beater bar off. Blot any spill straight away with a clean dry cloth and lift outward from the centre. Some shedding is normal in the first month and a half. Schedule a professional dry-cleaning every couple of years to keep the pile bright.
