The classical Persian floral repeat is one of the most copied design vocabularies in the world. A central medallion, corner spandrels, vine work running across the field. Translated into a tufted ground the motif loses the density of a knotted carpet and gains a softer, plusher reading. The motif arrives intact, the surface arrives lighter.
This rug was hand tufted in India across 5 weeks by two tufters and a finisher. Wool pushed through a stretched cotton backing, sealed with natural latex. The rust, brown composition was finished by hand with long shears so the floral elements catch the light a fraction higher than the ground.
Hand finishing is what separates a serious tufted piece from a market alternative. After the gun work the rug is moved to a finishing bench where shears, scissors, and a hand-held trimmer cut the pile into the planes the design needs. The relief between figure and ground is what makes the pattern read at room scale.
The Handmade graph was developed for hand-tufted production specifically; the proportions would not translate to a knotted loom.
The composition
A rust, brown palette built with the slow restraint of a vegetable bath. The pattern occupies the field without crowding it. Negative space is treated as a compositional element in its own right, not as backdrop. The pattern was graphed at full scale before the dye lots were called. Each line on the graph represents a single decision about colour relationship that no software-generated alternative can replicate.
The piece in a room
The piece works at the size as listed. The rust, brown palette pairs cleanly with walnut, oak, brass, leather, and linen. Mid-tone walls hold the saturation; bright walls push the colour forward as a focal field. The composition expects to be the most considered graphic element in the room.
Care
Vacuum weekly without the beater bar. Blot any spills with a dry cotton cloth. Initial shedding settles within six weeks of regular use. A professional dry clean every three years extends the working life of the rug. Use a low-profile rug pad to keep the carpet from creeping under foot traffic and to protect the floor finish from the latex backing.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
