The composition is asymmetric where most geometric designs are symmetric. The shifting density across the field gives the rug a directional read that shows differently from each end of the room. The studio in Turkey ran the design through proofs in three colour families before locking the grey version, which was the variant where the asymmetry held best.

Studio work on the geometric drawing took several months. The grey palette was chosen for its tonal stability across daylight and evening light; the geometry was tightened and loosened until the field carried at both close and distant viewing.

The composition

A grey palette built around the geometric drawing. The contrast is calibrated low so the rug works as a ground rather than as a graphic statement. The dense weft picks up shadow at the cut edges, which is what gives the surface its physical depth on the floor rather than the flatter look of a printed textile.

The fibre

Polypropylene engineered to lock dye thermally. The fibre does not absorb spills the way a porous wool fibre does, and most household stains lift before they have a chance to set. Direct sunlight does not bleach the colour; furniture leaves no permanent compression marks.

The piece in a room

At 5'3" x 7'7" (160 × 231 cm) the rug sits in a primary bedroom under a queen bed with twelve to eighteen inches showing on either side, in a medium living room under the front legs of a sofa, or in a study laid full under desk and chair. The grey register pairs with walnut, oak, and warm metals. The geometric drawing reads cleanly from any of those orientations because the composition was scaled to live at this format rather than scaled down from a larger original.

Care

Vacuum on standard setting weekly. Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent for everyday spills. The heat-set fibre resists staining at the molecular level so most spills do not set. Cold machine wash if needed. Dries flat in around two hours. The rug is well suited to households with children, pets, or high-traffic areas where wool would show wear within a year or two.
