Three weavers worked this carpet over roughly four months on an Indian vertical loom. Antique pile fragments were sorted, hand-cut, re-knotted across a cotton warp, and the assembled body was sent to the wash team for the sandstorm over-dye. The base wool is hand-spun, with a natural variation in spin diameter that gives the surface its slight movement under daylight. The over-dye was applied cold so the older dye history of each fragment survives as gentle tonal variation.

The composition

A unified warm tan ground, deepening into walnut where original dark fragments anchor the field and lifting into pale honey where the older pile was thinner. Vine work, lattice fragments, and small medallion echoes survive as low-contrast silhouettes. The carpet reads almost monochrome at a distance and resolves into a layered surface at three or four steps. It is the most architectural piece in the over-dye family because it commits least to colour.
