Reds in the original fragments turn to oxblood under the bath; ochres turn to soft bronze; whites turn to a pale shell pink. The medallions and palmettes of the source fragments behave as ghost lines rather than as graphic events. The result is closer to a dyed velvet panel in a gallery than to a pictorial carpet, and the colour holds across the day under both window light and warm interior bulbs.
