After sourcing, the panels were cut into rectangles, washed, sheared to a low common pile, and hand-stitched into the new six-by-nine format. Six to eight weeks of finishing work in India brought the field together, then the cool blue immersion bath unified the panels under a single tonal discipline.

The composition

A cool blue field reads first, with the original village geometries surfacing in close steel and dropped indigo tones. Panel seams are hand-stitched and integrated at room scale. The pile direction varies subtly between panels, which gives the surface a quiet movement under angled light. As the wool ages, the blue will hold and the under-pattern will become more legible.

Vacuum weekly without the beater bar. Rotate the carpet end-to-end at the change of seasons. Blot spills with absorbent cotton, never rub. A wool conservator should wash the rug every five to seven years. The piece expects a sixty-to-eighty-year service life on this regimen.
