Source panels were originally hand-knotted by village weavers across decades of production. After cutting and washing, the rectangles were sheared to a low common pile and hand-stitched into the new six-by-nine format over six to eight weeks of finishing work in India. The pale immersion bath brought the panels under a single soft cloud-grey value while preserving the underlying drawing.

The composition

A soft cloud-grey field holds the surface, with the original village patterns surfacing in close ivory and dropped grey tones. Hand-stitched seams between panels are visible on close approach and integrated at room scale. The pile direction varies subtly between panels, which gives the surface its quiet movement under angled light. The colour will hold and the under-drawing will read more clearly over time.

Pale-immersion patchwork pieces of this scale trade at European design galleries at four to eight thousand euros and well-finished examples in cloud tones are particularly difficult to source.
