Cutting, washing, shearing, and hand-stitching the panels into a new six-by-nine field took six to eight weeks of careful finishing work in India. The composition

A soft Mediterranean blue holds the field, with the original village geometries surfacing in close blue and dropped grey tones. Panel seams are hand-stitched and read only on close approach. The pile direction varies between panels, which is what gives the surface its quiet movement under angled light. The colour will warm slightly with use and the under-drawing will read more clearly over time.
