Capri Breeze sits in the cool blue family at the saturated end where Mediterranean water meets pale sky, a register that wool alone struggles to hold without the under-articulation of an aged base. The patchwork form solves the problem by combining many small histories under a single coherent wash; the under-pattern keeps the colour from reading as a single flat plane and the seams give the field internal architecture at the scale where a single-piece weaving in this colour would feel like a swimming pool. The genre developed in the past two decades from workshop experiments with structurally tired antique stock and is now an established discipline with its own specialised hands.
The source carpets here range across at least four decades of age, cut and joined by three artisans on a cotton scrim. The whole field was washed back to even pile and lowered into a sun-cured bath of indigo with a small proportion of weld for the green shift that pushes indigo toward the Mediterranean register. Air curing rather than heat produced the slight unevenness that gives the surface its depth. Wear patterns from the original use remain visible through the wash as faint articulations across the patches.
The composition
A cool saturated blue field broken into rectangles, each holding the ghost of its source carpet under the wash; classical floral medallions here, geometric tribal forms there, occasional border fragments running through two or three of the larger registers. The capri register sits between sea and sky and shifts across the day. Morning light pushes the field toward green; evening returns it to true blue. The carpet reads as a single luminous plane from a distance and opens into a layered history on close approach.
What you are buying
Single-source antique carpets in equivalent fibre and age trade through London dealers at four to seven lakh rupees in working condition. A patchwork carries the same pile maturity into a single coherent field that no antique source could supply alone. The carpet appreciates with use rather than depreciating. The blue continues to oxidise into its final register for the first two years and develops a faint green shift as it settles.
The piece in a room
5' x 8' (152 x 244 cm) anchors a sitting area, a primary bedroom, or a small study laid out around a desk. Capri blue holds against bone plaster walls, against pale linen upholstery, and against the warmer tones of teak or walnut. The colour pairs naturally with brass, with raw leather, and with bleached oak floors. Whitewashed walls open the field; deeper plaster lets the blue settle into the architecture.
Conservation
Rotate every six months for even light and traffic. Vacuum on suction only with the beater bar disengaged so the seams remain unstressed. Blot spills downward with a clean cotton cloth, never wipe. Engage a patchwork-trained conservator every four years for hand cleaning. The carpet runs forty to sixty years under those terms and the indigo continues to develop across most of the span.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
