The colour is the protagonist; the pattern is the texture. White and bone elements in the pre-dye fragments come up as bleached almost-pearl, which gives the rug a luminous quality that flat-dyed solid blues cannot reach. The pile takes the colour unevenly by design, lending depth to the surface.
