Atmosphere as a colour is hard to pin down. It sits between dust grey and faded indigo and behaves differently in morning light than in evening light. The Atmosphere patchwork in front of you was assembled and finished to deliver exactly that quality, a soft ground that shifts with the room rather than asserting itself in any single value.
The base panels were originally hand-knotted in village production across the last several decades. After sourcing, the panels were cut into rectangles, washed, sheared down to a low common pile, and hand-stitched into the new format. Six to eight weeks of finishing work in India followed, then a controlled immersion bath in soft grey-blue brought the field under a single discipline.
The composition
A soft atmospheric grey-blue holds the field, with the original village geometries surfacing in close tones underneath. Panel seams are visible on close approach and disappear at room scale. The pile direction varies subtly between panels, which is what gives the surface its quiet movement under raking light. The colour will warm slightly with use and the under-patterns will become more legible.

Comparable atmospheric patchwork appears at European design galleries at four to eight thousand euros and condition examples are limited. This is a contemporary reclamation supplied substantially below dealer levels. The carpet appreciates with use rather than depreciating, which is the durable property of a serious hand-finished floor.
The piece in a room
6' x 9' (183 x 274 cm) holds a primary lounge or a generous bedroom. The atmospheric palette pairs with cream limewash, putty walls, and oak floors, with brass, with linen, and with mid-century walnut furniture. The rug works as a quiet ground rather than as a focal object and dislikes competition from heavily patterned upholstery.
Conservation
Vacuum weekly with suction only. Rotate end-to-end at the change of seasons. Blot spills with absorbent cotton, never rub. A wool conservator should wash the rug every five to seven years. The piece expects a sixty-to-eighty-year life on this regimen.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
