Rugsville Rush Multi Graphic Designer Modern Carpet 5'3" x 7'3"

The drawing in this carpet grew out of contemporary studios working in dialogue with mid-century European geometry. The graphic geometry is composed in ivory, oat, and faded ochre, weighted slightly off-centre so the eye moves through the field rather than fixing on a single point. The studio worked the design in graphite and ink for several months before approving it for the loom.

Synthetic floor work of this grade exists for a reason that wool work cannot fulfil. It goes under a dining table where chairs scrape twice a day, into a hallway that takes muddy shoes after monsoon rain, into a child's room where juice and crayon are hazards rather than possibilities. Spending heavily on a hand-knotted carpet for those rooms is a category error. Spending too little on the alternative is the other one. This is the working middle.

The fibre

Heat-set polypropylene. The yarn is engineered so the colour is locked into the fibre by temperature rather than by surface dye, which is why the saturation does not fade in direct sunlight the way printed wool can. The fibre resists staining at the molecular level. Wine, juice, oil, and coffee lift with a damp cloth provided they are addressed before they set. The pile stays flat under furniture and does not shed. Practical floor work for households with pets, children, and the kind of daily use that a hand-knotted wool piece is too valuable to absorb.

The composition

The field carries ivory, oat, and faded ochre. Drawn at this scale and printed at this resolution, the pattern reads cleanly across the room and reveals fine work on approach. There is no central focal point demanded by the design, which means furniture can be arranged anywhere over the carpet without breaking the composition. The drawing has been adapted from heritage hand-loomed sources and tightened up so the line work holds at this density without smudging into the ground. Pairs cleanly with mid-tone wood, brass detail, leather, and unbleached linen.

At 5'3" x 7'3" (160 x 221 cm), the carpet sets the working scale for a flat-sized living area, a primary bedroom, or a dining setup with a six-seater table. It pairs with walnut, brass, leather, raw oak, and warm wood floors.

Care

Vacuum weekly. Spot clean with a mild detergent on a clean cotton cloth. If a spill resists spot cleaning, the carpet will tolerate a cold gentle machine wash at 30 degrees in a domestic drum where the size allows. Air dries flat in two to three hours. No professional wash is required to keep it in working condition.
