The runner format pulls the grammar into a long architectural rhythm rather than a single composition, with the central medallion sequence repeating down the long axis at calculated intervals.

Two weavers worked this 4 by 20 ft (122 by 610 cm) runner over close to seven months on a vertical loom in India. Hand-spun wool was tied with the asymmetric Persian knot onto a cotton warp at gallery density. A long runner is technically harder than a comparable rectangle because warp tension has to be maintained over the full throw and the team has to walk the loom together to keep alignment. The pile was sheared low for legibility under traffic.

The composition

A warm beige field carrying the architectural breathing space. Soft rust and ivory floral pulls run through the central spine, with palmette and vine work in muted madder accenting the corner devices. The medallion sequence repeats at calculated intervals down the long axis. The border is restrained, a single guard band rather than the layered borders that turn lesser runners busy.
