Floral carpet design in Iran reaches back to the Safavid garden tradition of the sixteenth century, when court designers translated the geometry of the chahar bagh garden into pile. The motif on this rug carries that lineage. Vine, palmette, lotus, and rosette laid out in a measured rhythm.
The composition was drawn for the floor, not for a swatch book. The polychrome field holds at the distance of standing height, the secondary motif resolves on approach, and the proportions are calibrated for room-scale viewing. The result is a rug that reads as architecture rather than as decoration.
The fibre
Heat-set polypropylene. The colour is locked into the fibre by temperature rather than by a surface dye, which is why direct sunlight does not bleach the saturation out the way it does with surface-printed pile. The fibre resists staining at a molecular level. Wine, juice, oil, and coffee lift with a damp cloth before they set, which is the property that makes the rug practical in dining rooms and high-traffic living areas where wool would not survive without specialist cleaning.
The composition
At room scale the polychrome carries the field as a single colour event. Up close the design vocabulary resolves into the motifs the studio drew from. Best with restrained upholstery, mid-tone walls, and warm wood floors that let the colour register breathe. The piece is engineered to set a quiet ground for the rest of the room rather than to compete with it.
The piece in a room
5' x 8' (152 × 244 cm) suits a medium living room, a guest bedroom, or a study with a single chair and reading lamp. The polychrome register pairs with both warm and cool wall colours. The pile depth gives the rug presence underfoot, while the colour discipline keeps the piece from competing with the architecture of the room.
Care
Vacuum weekly with a standard upright. Spot clean with mild detergent on a clean cotton cloth, working from the outside of the spill toward the centre. The rug accepts a cool 30°C machine wash if a spill resists spot cleaning, and dries flat in a few hours indoors. No professional cleaning required at any point in the rug's life. Furniture rotation each season prevents compression at fixed points.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
