Carpet design as a serious decorative practice was codified across the long stretch of West and Central Asia between the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries. The neutral palette in this piece is a contemporary reading of that codified library.
A single hand worked the piece for 4 months at the vertical loom. Approximately 907K knots in total, every one tied by hand at the loom. The wool is New Zealand fleece, fine micron and long staple, the only fibre at this price tier that takes plant dye to the depth the design needs without losing its hand. Dye work followed the slow vegetable method passed down through generations of dye masters: madder root for the reds, fermented indigo for the blues, oak gall and walnut for the brown family.
The composition
A neutral ground holds a vine and palmette repeat that opens at the centre and closes toward the borders. The patina the rug acquires over a decade is the part the contemporary trade cannot reproduce. It is the reason serious collectors buy at this density and this fibre.

Conservation
Rotation at the change of seasons keeps the wear even. Vacuum on suction only. Blot any liquid immediately with white cotton. The rug needs a wool-trained hand wash every five to seven years and no other intervention. Eighty to a hundred years of life is realistic at this density.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
