The wool is sheared from highland sheep in northern India and combed by hand before spinning, which keeps the slight diameter variation that makes a hand-knotted pile catch light unevenly.

The composition

A single field of turquoise that shifts from sea green near the edges to a clearer aqua at the centre. Faint figural traces of the underlying floral knotwork show through where the dye took less, the way pentimenti show through old oil paintings. The colour reads cool against pale walls and electric against terracotta or warm timber. No border, no medallion. The piece works as a flat plane of colour with texture as the only incident.
