The pile is hand-spun wool, knotted to a traditional floral cartoon, then sheared close, washed, and lowered into an acid-dye turquoise bath specific to wool fibre. The bath was held at controlled temperature to produce uneven colour absorption, which is what gives an overdyed rug its visual depth.

The composition

A saturated turquoise field with the underlying floral drawing visible only as soft tonal shifts. The colour leans blue near the centre and shifts faintly green toward the edges, the way a glaze sits over an undercoat in oil paint. A whisper of the original border survives at the perimeter. Over years of light exposure the turquoise will settle into a slightly lower-saturation teal, holding the same depth without the initial intensity.
