A final low-pH wash settled the colour into the slightly faded, sun-worn quality that the tribal patchwork tradition prizes.

The composition

Rust dominates. Gold runs as warm contrast through several of the larger blocks. Blue cools the field at three or four points across the rug, breaking the warmth before it tips into uniformity. The geometry shifts every twelve to twenty inches, so the eye never settles on a single repeat. The hand-shearing produces visible variation in pile height between blocks, which gives the surface a relief that catches raking light.

Patchwork hand-knotted construction is more labour intensive per square foot than a single-design rug because of the assembly step. The piece sits well above the original MSRP and lands here at clearance. Comparable distressed tribal patchwork from Western inventories runs in the range that justifies the original tag. The rug appreciates with use rather than depreciating. The shearing settles further with traffic, deepening the antiqued quality.
