Light green and light gold together produce one of the gentler tonal partnerships in the traditional Persian repertoire. The combination was favoured in Qajar-era domestic carpets where the household preferred restraint over the more saturated palettes used in formal public rooms. The vocabulary translates well to contemporary interiors because the tonal register sits comfortably alongside both warm wood floors and cooler painted walls, which is why it has survived as a workshop tradition into modern Indian production.
Four weavers shared this loom in India for around six months. Hand-spun wool pile, asymmetric knots tied row by row against a vertical beam, cotton warps and wefts. The light green was achieved through measured dye saturation rather than over-dyeing, which gives the field a clean reading without the mottling associated with cheaper production. The gold accents were dyed in a separate bath and knotted into the field at the appropriate registers. The pile was sheared evenly at 10 mm across the surface.
The composition
A pale green ground with light gold floral work tracing across the field. A central medallion in deeper gold anchors the composition, with corner spandrels echoing the medallion form. The border is a green framing band with gold guard lines, restrained rather than ornate. The two tonal values sit close enough that the carpet reads as a single luminous field with incident rather than as a high-contrast pattern. Over time the green will soften toward a warmer sage and the gold will deepen.
What you are buying
Traditional hand-knotted wool carpets at 9 x 12 with this dye discipline list at MSRP near ₹3 lac in standard retail. The listing at ₹1.27 lac sits at workshop-direct economics. The carpet appreciates with use, the wool softening underfoot and the dye developing the patina of a long-used piece. The cost reflects weaver-months rather than dealer infrastructure.
The piece in a room
9' x 12' (274 x 366 cm) is the canonical drawing-room scale. The pale green pairs with cream walls, oak or pale wood floors, antique brass, and upholstery in linen, ivory, or soft gold. The carpet sits comfortably under a long sofa or a six-seat dining table. The tonal register suits rooms that prefer restraint to declaration, where the carpet provides the ground rather than competes for the eye.
Conservation
Rotate twice a year for even wear. Vacuum weekly on suction only, beater bar disengaged. Blot spills with cotton; never rub. Hand-wash by a wool-trained conservator every five to seven years. Cared for this way, the carpet runs sixty to eighty years and develops the soft hand of a long-used piece.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
