The asymmetric Persian knot was used throughout, tied by hand into a cotton warp with hand-spun wool. The pile was sheared low so the floral palmette and vine work hold their drawing under traffic. Total labour runs to about sixteen weaver-months. The dyeing of madder rust requires multiple immersions to build the saturation depth that single-bath dyeing cannot achieve.
