Traditional Indian carpet weaving inherited the Mughal court grammar of paired floral palmette and vine in a calculated symmetry. Ivory and gold is the most ceremonial of those palettes, where the field carries light and the gold drawing carries the formal architecture of the composition. The format reads at room scale as classical and at close approach as a sequence of carefully drawn floral devices.
Three weavers spent close to six months on this 8 by 10 ft (244 by 305 cm) hand-knotted piece on a vertical loom in India. The asymmetric Persian knot was tied row by row onto a cotton warp using hand-spun wool at gallery density. The gold tones came from weld and walnut hull dyeing, the ivory from the natural undyed colour of the wool clip with a single light wash. Total labour runs to roughly eighteen weaver-months including dye preparation.
The composition
An ivory ground that lets natural light pass through it. A central medallion in soft gold anchors the rug. Floral palmettes and vine work in deeper gold pull through the field at calculated intervals; the border carries a single guard band of warm gold with ivory accents. The drawing is generous in spacing, in the Indian tradition rather than the tighter Persian tradition. Ivory warms with use; gold deepens toward bronze.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.

Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
