One weaver completed this 3' x 12' (91 x 366 cm) runner in India over around five to six months. The fibre is hand-spun wool worked over a cotton warp. After weaving the rug went through an antique wash, was sheared close, and then taken through two sequential immersions, first the brown dye and then the light blue, each prepared in copper vessels and applied by hand.

The two colours sit in conversation rather than in contrast; both are muted into the soft palette the over-dye process produces. The runner reads as a single composed field at viewing distance and resolves into the two-colour interaction on approach. Direct sunlight brings the light blue forward; ambient light lets the brown carry the field.
