Modern carpet vocabulary descends from the studio tradition that runs from the Bauhaus through Anni Albers, Eileen Gray, and the post-war Scandinavian textile shops. Two working the loom for six to seven weeks. The wool was prepared in the same workshop where the rug was woven, spun and dyed in small batches and packed against the warp by hand. The slight tonal drift across the field is the visible signature of the medium; nothing about the surface reads as industrial.
The composition
The work is built on a purple register. The geometry is sized for room scale, not for the photograph. Across distance the field reads as a single colour with movement inside it; on close approach the small variations in tone and weave become visible as the trace of a slow, hand-dyed process. The piece is built to be lived with rather than displayed, and it will deepen in colour and tighten in feel across its first year on the floor. The piece in a room
5' x 8' is the canonical mid-scale rug for the Indian flat. The piece holds a sofa-and-chairs arrangement or a six-seat dining table with room to spare. The composition reads at standing distance from the doorway and rewards a slow look from a low chair beside it. Pairs with warm wood, brass and mid-tone walls.
Care
The piece is fully reversible. Run a vacuum over the surface weekly with the rotary brush switched off. At the spring and autumn change, lift the rug, sweep the floor beneath, and lay it down rotated end to end. Spills are blotted with a damp cloth and a drop of mild soap. A dry clean every three years preserves the wool and refreshes the dye.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
