Rugsville Tabriz Trellis Beige Blue Wool Carpet 8' x 10'

A tufted carpet earns its weight from density rather than knot count. Loops pulled tight against a cotton scrim, sheared flat by hand with long shears, washed and finished by a separate hand. The result reads close to a knotted rug at a more democratic price and accepts the design vocabulary of contemporary studios cleanly.

This rug was hand-tufted in India over 8 weeks by a small team of two tufters and a finisher. Wool pulled through a stretched cotton canvas one row at a time, then bonded at the back with natural latex and a cotton scrim. The pile was sheared by hand at the end so the beige field sits clean against any contour the design holds, and the rug was washed and dried flat to set the surface.

The composition

A repeating lattice over a beige field that shifts between sand and bone depending on the daylight. The geometry is calm enough to disappear when the room is busy and assertive enough to hold the floor when the room is quiet. The relief between the lattice line and the field deepens as the pile settles. The colour will deepen by a quarter step over the first three years of use, the way wool dye always does as the surface oxidises and the fibre relaxes into the field.

The piece in a room

At 8' × 10' (244 × 305 cm) the rug carries a working living room, a king bedroom, or a six-seat dining table. The beige field reads as a considered ground for upholstery and timber, not as the thing the room is about. Lighter walls push the colour forward as a focal field; deeper walls let it settle into the architecture as a quieter register. All four legs of a sectional can sit on top with breathing space around the perimeter, which is the canonical living-room placement at this scale. Holds its own next to large-scale art and works against a single accent piece rather than a busy gallery wall.

Care

Vacuum gently each week, no beater bar. Loose surface fibres will shed for the first month and a half; the body of the pile is unaffected. Spot care by blotting only. A professional clean every two to three years keeps the colour and the latex backing in good condition.
