By the late 1800s, the workshops at Sultanabad in central Iran had reshaped what the Anglo-American drawing room expected of a carpet. A European buying office in Tabriz pushed weavers to thin the dense floral repeats of classical Persia into the open, breathing fields collectors wanted. The pattern in this rug descends directly from that line.
The work took five to six weeks of loom time under Two. Hand-spun wool, plant-derived dye, charted cartoon. The composition was built up against the warp row by row and washed at finish to bring the colour to its final saturation. The piece carries the irregularities that distinguish hand work from machine reproduction.
The composition
The work is built on rust and navy. The geometry is sized for room scale, not for the photograph. Across distance the field reads as a single colour with movement inside it; on close approach the small variations in tone and weave become visible as the trace of a slow, hand-dyed process. The piece is built to be lived with rather than displayed, and it will deepen in colour and tighten in feel across its first year on the floor. The piece in a room
2'6" x 8' fits a long passage, a galley kitchen, or the foot of a long bed in a primary bedroom. The piece is built to read as a continuous composition rather than as a tile that repeats; the geometry settles across its length and the colour holds at standing distance.
Care
The piece is fully reversible. Run a vacuum over the surface weekly with the rotary brush switched off. At the spring and autumn change, lift the rug, sweep the floor beneath, and lay it down rotated end to end. Spills are blotted with a damp cloth and a drop of mild soap. A dry clean every three years preserves the wool and refreshes the dye.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Do you take custom orders?

Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
