The geometric vocabulary of the southwestern weaving tradition runs across cultures that never met. The same stepped diamonds and banded fields show up in the Navajo blankets of the American southwest, the kilims of central Anatolia, and the dhurries of western India. The form survives because the loom imposes the geometry. A horizontal loom and a coloured weft will produce these shapes whether the weaver intends them or not.
Hand-woven in India by 2 weavers over two weeks. Wool weft worked across a cotton warp on a flat loom. The multicolour composition is reversible, with the same pattern reading on both faces. The rug folds to ship and recovers its shape within a day of being laid out.
The composition
Multicolour ground, measured incident in the field, restrained borders. The colour is tonal rather than flat. Wool dyed in small batches gives the surface the slight bloom that mass-dyed yarn never carries. Over the next few seasons the saturation will settle in and the lighter tones will warm into the field rather than dulling against it. The pattern is paced so that the eye moves through the rug rather than catching on any one motif.
The piece in a room
At 4' x 6' (4' x 6' (122 x 183 cm)) the rug holds a study, a small living area, or the foot-of-bed zone in a larger primary bedroom. The multicolour palette gives a defined ground that pairs well with linen upholstery, with bare wood furniture, and with painted plaster walls in mid tones.
Care
Use a low-suction vacuum and skip the beater bar. The rug is reversible, so rotating and flipping it on a quarterly cycle will keep both faces and all four corners wearing evenly. Spot clean with mild soap and cool water. Lay flat to dry if washed. A pad below the rug stops it from creeping under regular traffic.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
