Tribal weaving traditions from the highlands of central Asia carried geometry across deserts long before any pattern book recorded it. The Simone draws on that travelling vocabulary, gathering rust ground tones and softer light blue accents into a field that reads as nomadic in spirit yet thoroughly settled in scale. The motifs scatter rather than march. There is no rigid medallion at the centre, no formal corner cartouches, only a quiet rhythm of lozenge fragments and elongated diamonds that the eye assembles for itself.
Three artisans at a tufting frame worked the rug over six weeks in India. Pure yarn-dyed wool was driven through a stretched cotton canvas one row at a time, then sealed at the back with natural latex and a final cotton scrim. A finisher passed long shears across the surface to bring the pile to a level twelve millimetres before luster washing softened the saturation into the mellow tone tribal carpets are known for.
The composition
Rust holds the field with the warmth of fired terracotta. The light blue runs through it like water finding its course, breaking where the geometry asks for breath and gathering where the design wants weight. Wool yarn-dyed before tufting carries the colour deeper into each fibre than surface dyeing allows, which is why the rust here reads molten under lamplight and steadies into a cooler ember tone in daylight.
The piece in a room
9' x 12' (274 x 366 cm) is the canonical scale for a full living room or a generous dining footprint. The Simone settles a long sofa and a pair of flanking chairs into a single grounded zone, with rust pulling out the warmth in walnut and teak furniture. Whitewashed walls let the blue accents glow. Lime-washed plaster and exposed brick let the rust read as architectural rather than decorative.
Care
Vacuum weekly with the beater bar disengaged so the cut pile is not pulled at the base. Blot any spill quickly with a clean cotton cloth, working from the edge inward. Light shedding for the first six to eight weeks is normal as loose fibres release. Schedule a professional dry clean every three years, or sooner if the rug sits in a high-traffic dining area.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Frequently asked
How long will shipping take?
Most metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata) receive their order in 3-5 business days. Tier-2 cities take 5-7 business days, and remote pin codes (J&K, North-East, Andamans) take 7-10 business days. Use the pin-code checker above for a concrete delivery date.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each carpet is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for ₹500 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp with the SKU and your shipping pin code to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email care@rugsville.in or message us on WhatsApp with your order number — we arrange free reverse pickup in most pin codes. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted carpets typically take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Is Cash on Delivery (COD) available?
COD is available for most pin codes in zones A and B (metros and tier-2 cities). Some remote pin codes are prepaid only — the pin-code checker above will tell you immediately.
